A colorful, beautiful, cool fall Saturday morning awaited 72 adult and student golfers for the THIRD ANNUAL DANIEL FURR MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT held on October 22, 2011 at Connestee Falls Golf Club in Brevard, NC. A BBQ awards picnic followed at Atagahi Park. All enjoyed Gary’s famous BBQ and George’s delicious Brunswick stew with trimmings.
After the delicious meal 12 raffle prizes were drawn plus the Grand Raffle Prize of a night for two with dinner at the beautiful Greystone Inn at Lake Toxaway – won by Dale and Layne Barber. The Tournament’s winning team of Kaylor, Fox, Singleton, and Ammons chose a free golf round at Lake Toxaway Golf Club while the second place team of Stokley, Barber, Moore, and Strop chose a free golf round at the Burlingame Golf Club. A wonderful day was enjoyed by all participants and guests.
Event hosts Joe and Sandra Furr expressed their appreciation for the 5 Major Sponsors, (noted at the bottom of each page) and for the 26 Hole Sponsors. They also thanked the 20 volunteers who helped so much and for the 72 golfer participants. Net proceeds for the J. Daniel Furr Memorial Scholarship Fund anounted to $7,357. The success of the THIRD ANNUAL DANIEL FURR MEMORIAL GOLF event was a result of many months of fervent prayer so generously answered by our Gracious Lord.
